Easier Workflow for Booking on Behalf of Clients
planned
Michael Greenspan
I’ve been using SavvyCal for my coaching business and love how smooth the booking experience is for clients using my public links.
That said, there's one part of the workflow that's very cumbersome: booking sessions on behalf of clients. When I am at the end of my coaching call, I like to coordinate and book our next coaching session.
Right now, my public booking links show limited availability by design. But when I’m manually scheduling for a client, I often want to give them access to "unpublished" availability.
To make that work, I currently have to:
- Manually add a time override to make the hidden time slot bookable
- Open the link in an incognito window (so SavvyCal doesn’t assume I’m booking for myself)
- Fill in their name and email manually
It works — but it’s clunky and time-consuming. And I find it difficult to do while the client is still on the call.
What I’d love to see:
A way to schedule directly from the admin dashboard, where I can:
- Choose the time slot (even if it’s outside public availability)
- Enter client name/email
- Hook them into that booking link so they get confirmation, reminders, and rescheduling links, etc, as if they had booked it themselves.
This would streamline the workflow significantly for those of us who both share public booking links and book more customized sessions for our clients.
I am considering moving to Acuity or some other system as a result of this. I still need to determine what alternatives exist, but this is not sustainable for me.

Derrick Reimer I really like Canny, the problem is that the requests are too "fragmented". In reality, quite a few people are asking for the same thing, but they're asking for it in a different way or from a different point of view.
It's quite clear here that many of the requests are for access to some sort of integrated CRM (please don't talk to us about Hubspot!).
There should be a 'customers' or 'contacts' tab in the menu. And we should be able to act on this list. Modify a contact's details, suggest them to the guest when they enter their details if they're already in the database, suggest a slot to a contact without having to enter their details, block a contact, impose a time limit on bookings, etc, etc.
There is a whole series of very practical improvements on this subject, but to really see the demand from your user base, you need to combine all these subjects into one big subject.

Bastien V: Thanks for the feedback, Bastien. We're aware of these requests and taking them under consideration as we plan the roadmap. It's best for them to be granular though, to gather nuance about particular needs (so we can then pull them together as we do our internal scoping).

I'll add a nice to have here. Would be great if SavvyCal hooked up with my google contacts (or maintained some history of people who already booked with me) so as I type their name or email there is autocomplete.

This will be coming soon!

Is there any timeline on this?

I agree! I just switched to SavvyCal, and was disappointed to see that it wasn't easy to book appointments myself through the dashboard. I'd love to see this feature added so that I can make it as easy as possible to schedule current clients if we are scheduling our next meeting live vs asking them to do it in follow up.
Thank you!

Michael Greenspan thank you for the detailed & thoughtful write up -- it's very helpful to hear this kind of concrete workflow steps. This is something we do want to make easier, stay tuned.
